Pat And Ann Laforet - Get Ready to go to Africa
Hi all;
Just a note to open the blog. We want to thank our friends and family for their support and their ongoing generocity and encouragement.
In case you have not heard, Pat has accepted the position of Managing Director for Lifeline Malawi and will be working in Africa starting September 6, 2006. Please visit the website at www.lifelinemalawi.com to get more background and history. Pat and Ann are busy packing up their possessions, sorting out their business, working on fundraising, and spending as much time with their ten kids and six grandchildren as they can before they depart in September. Emotions run from happy to sad, from excitement to fear, from anticipation to reluctance for the departure day to arrive! We could use a hug if you see us in person!
It is a very exciting time for the organization as two new projects are starting this year, the Mobile Outreach and our Partnership with TECS.
The Mobile Outreach is exciting because we can now load up a big Landcruiser and go out to the remote villages and deliver the same free medicine and medical care we deliver at the clinic. The TECS partnership has us teaming up with three other agencies to provide a comprehensive effort to help these people including fresh water from drilled wells, sustainable agriculture, Education and behavior change and us, Lifeline Malawi as the medical arm. This could turn out to be a model that is used not only in Malawi but other African countries as we demonstrate efficiencies and effectiveness.
We hope you will join us in the journey and check back regularly to stay in touch. We particularly encourage you to leave comments and suggestions.
